Situated in a highly prone bush fire zone within the Blue Mountains region, the design of Highland Road Residence was challenged by the need to meet a fire safe construction. The addition to the kit home capitilises on the connection between interior living and the sites Northern aspect and bush outlook. A new guest wing was added to the original home to offer a multi-functional secondary studio. The design concept follows a strong transition between the original rural aesthetic at the front facade of the home to a contemporary extension at the rear.
